IceLab Lunch Pitch: Electronics for ecology and geosciences

Wed
14
May
Time Wednesday 14 May, 2025 at 12:00 - 13:00
Place Stora Fokusrummet (KBF301)

EMG/IceLab researchers will pitch their ideas about how to develop new tools to sample and analyze terrestrial and aquatic environments. The primary goal of this meeting is to establish collaborations with researchers from the Department of Applied Physics and Electronics, though it is of course open to others who are interested. The topics that will be discussed are the development of sensors to measure environmental parameters in-situ (e.g., oxygen, turbidity, water level) and of tools to mount of drones used to measure environmental parameters.

Join the conversation - everyone is welcome!

To encourage cross pollination of ideas between researchers from different disciplines, IceLab hosts interdisciplinary research lunches with the vision of allowing ideas to meet and mate. During the Lunch Pitch Season, the creative lunches take place at KBC (Glasburen) on a Wednesday.

Register to come to the pitch and reserve your lunch by 12 May, 10am.

Note! The default lunch option is a vegetarian falafel wrap. You can choose an alternative lunch in a separate form that will be emailed to you once you have registered.

Who is pitching about what?

Eric Capo

"Aquatic microbial diversity as seen through the DNA lens - development of a drone-sampling approach to collect water samples”

Richard Mason

“Digital rivers: measuring and monitoring sediment and water in rivers”

Gerard Rocher-Ros

“Developing methods and sensors to measure greenhouse gas fluxes in aquatic environments”

Matthias Siewert

"Understanding plants at distance - How can we integrate imagery and lidar to extract information about plants"

Where is it?

Stora Fokusrummet, KBF301, near the KBC café. Find your way to the venue (mazemap link)

IceLab Lunch Pitches are made possible through funding from KBC for the venue and lunches and from Stress Response Modeling at IceLab for their coordination.
