Join the EC2U Forum 2026 Online

The EC2U Forum brings together students, researchers, teachers, administrative staff, and Associated Partners from across Europe. The 2026 Forum is hosted by the University of Turku, Finland, and focuses on the overarching theme "Shaping European Futures through Quality Education".

Some sessions are open to the public and will be streamed live. You are welcome to register for one or more of the following sessions (all times are local Finnish time, EEST/UTC+3). 

Wednesday, 20 May 2026 

• 10:00-11:30 Scientific Session: Materials & Methods for a Sustainable Future
  This session highlights EC2U cooperation addressing sustainability challenges, focusing on innovative materials, interdisciplinary methods, and applied research contributing to a more sustainable Europe.
  
  
• 10:00-12:00 Scientific Session: Multilingualism for Inclusive and Sustainable Education
  This virtual panel brings together researchers and educators to explore multilingual practices, ideologies, and innovations across EC2U partner institutions. Drawing from recent research in language learning, minority and language contact, digital communication, and sustainable teaching practices, the session highlights how multilingualism can support equity, well-being, and intercultural competence in European classrooms and beyond.
• 16:00-18:00 Science Contest
  The Science Contest is a fun, scientific competition designed to promote science and research while demonstrating how researchers tackle new research questions in real time, while also being creative and “thinking outside the box”. The Umeå University team will compete against the universities of Jena and Turku for a place in the grand finale against the winners of the first two rounds, Iași and Pavia.

• 9:30-11:00 Higher Education Roundtable on Bridging Education and Skills: Challenge-Based Education, Quality Jobs and Talent Retention
  With a diversity of experts and perspectives (students, businesses and alliances), the roundtable seeks to explore how challenge-based education and partnerships can equip learners with relevant skills, ensure access to quality jobs, and promote inclusive growth across Europe. • 11:30-13:00 Panel Discussion: Balancing Safeguarding and Openness in Research
  This session brings together experts to examine how universities can safeguard the integrity of research while upholding the core academic values of openness, collaboration, and intellectual independence. Participants will gain insights into emerging global challenges and responsible research practices.

Registration is handled via the official EC2U Forum 2026 online form and is open until 17 April 2026. Register following the step-by-step guide:

2. Fill in your name and contact details.
3. Select your participant category (staff member, student, or other) and choose online participation.
4. Select the sessions you wish to attend from the program list. The open sessions are listed above.
5. Submit the form. You will receive a confirmation email shortly after completing your registration.
