The ‘Perspectives on’ series highlights current and relevant core academic issues through open, interdisciplinary discussions focusing on research and education. The theme of this session is the university in an uncertain world – responsibility, collaboration and global engagement.
The uncertain geopolitical situation places new demands on universities’ responsibilities in a globalised world. In this edition of Perspectives on, each speaker will offer their perspective on current issues in internationalisation – from how higher education institutions can promote responsible global collaboration and safeguard academic freedom, as openly as possible and as securely as necessary – to the university’s role as a refuge for researchers at risk through initiatives such as Scholars at Risk (SAR).
Participants in the panel discussion:
• Pär Svensson, International coordinator at Lund University. He is a member of SUHF’s expert group on internationalisation issues and a member of the SAR Sweden steering group.
• Frank Drewes, Head of the Department of Computing Science.
• Tora Holmberg, Vice-Chancellor.
Moderator is Magnus Blomgren, Associate professor at the Department of Political Science.
