In a world facing increasingly complex global challenges, the demand for professionals with expertise in financial and ESG reporting is growing rapidly. This one-year master’s programme is designed to meet that demand, equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the evolving landscape of sustainable finance.
At the heart of the programme is the EU Sustainable Finance Framework, which continues to raise the bar for corporations and audit firms. As regulatory requirements intensify, so does the need for finance and auditing professionals who understand both the theory and the practice of sustainability reporting.
This is a one-year master’s programme, offered jointly by Umeå School of Business Economics and Statistics with Hanken School of Economics. Students begin their studies on-site in Umeå during the first term, and continue in Vaasa during the second term, earning a double degree upon graduation.
The programme is taught entirely in English and combines science-based decision-making with real-world casework. Students will engage in experiential learning projects, tackling actual financial and non-financial reporting challenges faced by organizations today. This unique approach ensures that graduates leave with both a strong academic foundation and practical, job-ready skills.
