The Truth Commission submits Sami research anthology

On 4 March, the Truth Commission for the Sami People will submit a comprehensive collection of current Sami research to the Government, the Sami Parliament, and Saminuorra at Umeå University.
The anthology contains 36 texts by more than 50 authors and spans 22 subject areas.
During the ceremony, some of the chapter authors will present their contributions, two of whom – Charlotta Svonni and Gudrun Norstedt – are affiliated with Várdduo, the Centre for Sami Research at Umeå University.
The event will be held in Rotundan at Umeå University in the morning and at the Bildmuseet in the afternoon.
10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lena Nyberg, chair, presents and hands over the research anthology to Minister Parisa Liljestrand, the Sami Parliament, and Sáminuorra. Speeches and recordings by these parties.
Researchers Per Sandström, Brita-Stina Maria Sjaggo, Gudrun Norstedt, Charlotta Svonni, Ingela Bergman, and Inga-Maria Mulk speak about their contributions to the anthology.
Panel discussion with curator Anneli Bäckman, member Gunlög Fur, Sara-Elvira Kuhmunen (Sáminuorra) and Monica L Edmondson, artist.
Discussion on the role of art in formulating personal and collective truths linked to the work of the Truth Commission.

Since 2021, the Truth Commission has been tasked with mapping the state's historical policy towards the Sámi people and highlighting its consequences, as well as proposing measures that can contribute to redress and reconciliation.
