UAS April 2021: Disseminating Arctic research through ECTS

Håkan Appelblad is an Associate professor at the Department of Geography at Umeå university and associated researcher at Arcum. Within the Umeå Arctic Seminar series, Håkan will describe how results from the ARCTISEN project is disseminated through online ECTS.

The research and European regional development project ARCTISEN (Culturally Sensitive Tourism in the Arctic), is moving towards its finalizing stage. Starting in 2018 and ending in 2021, the project focus has been to “develop a support system for start-ups and existing small and medium-sized enterprises offering innovative tourism products and services in the Arctic.”

As a part of the dissemination of the project, the partners; University of Lapland, UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Northern Norway Tourist Board, Umeå University, Ájtte - Mountain and Sámi museum, Aalborg University, University of Waterloo and World Indigenous Tourism Alliance; have developed an online 1 ECTS university course on Cultural Sensitive Tourism.

On Friday April 23 between noon and 1 PM (CET), you have the opportunity to listen to Håkan Appelblad, one of the researchers from Umeå involved in this project, who will present this novel model of research communication, and discuss its pros and cons.
