Ever since 1968, Umeå University, Sweden, has organised a winter conference in Statistics. This is a four-day event held in the Swedish mountains. Three recognised key speakers give lectures in the morning, in late afternoon and in the evening, with opportunities for outdoor activities at midday. A few presentation spots are open for contributed talks. The conference serves as an important platform and a meeting place for discussing important statistical topics in a relaxing environment. This year’s theme is Modern Statistics and Data Science Education, which includes different aspects of statistics education, its connection to data science as well as statistical literacy in modern society. More information is found at www.umu.se/en/winter-conference-in-statistics-2026.
The conference is organized in collaboration between the Department of Statistics at the Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics, Umeå University, the Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, Umeå University, and the Swedish Statistical Society.
