SERIOUS GAMES for serious GEOGRAPHERS

Through playful methodologies and group work activities, in this one-day workshop, we will explore the potential of art-based methods and serious games for geography research in the Arctic context.

Registration

Registration form
Registration will open between the 6th and 27th of April. You are very welcome to attend either the lecture, the hands-on activities, or the full day program. Since we have a limited capacity for the hands-on activities (ca. 20 participants), the registration will work on a first-come, first-served basis. If we don't reach the limited capacity, you can join even if you haven't registered.

The Arctic context

Four main topics are themes for discussion during the group work activities. The selected topics are aimed at staff members and geography students, who are interested in developing interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research.

  1. Should I stay, or should I go? – Labour and migration issues in the North.
  2. Is green energy, greener? – Implications of the energy transition in the Artic.
  3. Who ‘owns’ the land? – Sami conflicts around land management.
  4. Melting destinations – The future of culture, winter tourism and sports.
