Contact and request: Archive collections

You can request most items from our archive collections. To consult the material, you need to book the library's special reading room. If needed, you can also order copies of the library's archival material.

Request materials through Arken

In Arken, the library's search tool for archival material, you can view our archival inventories and request material that you would like to consult.

Arken (Umeå University Library)

We will notify you when your ordered material is ready, usually the next working day. To consult the material, you need to book a seat in the library’s special reading room.

Please contact the Section of Archives and Special Collections if you:

wish to book the special reading room;
need help finding archive material; or
have questions about the library's archive collections.

Order copies of archival material

If you are unable to visit the library, you can contact us to order copies from our archive collections.

It is free of charge to order copies if the material consists of 1-4 pages.

Pricing for copies

Price list (5 pages and above):

Starting fee: SEK 100.
Price per page: SEK 5.
Price per page for fragile or difficult-to-handle material: by agreement.

All prices are exclusive of VAT (25 per cent).

Temporary facilities while the library is being renovated

Large parts of the University Library are currently undergoing renovation. This means that the usual facilities for archives and special collections are not accessible, but our services are available as usual.
