The publication fee is paid by the library via an agreement between the library and PLOS. This applies to publication in all journals from the open access publisher PLOS.
Terms and conditions
You must be the corresponding author, i.e., the one handling communication with the publisher and journal.
Your Umeå University affiliation must be stated in the published article.
Use your university e-mail ending with @umu.se. The e-mail domain is often used to recognize your eligibility.
The agreement applies to articles with a 2023 acceptance date.
Your article will be published under a CC BY license.
How the publishing process works

Your affiliation to Umeå University will be automatically identified when you submit manuscripts to PLOS Medicine, PLOS Biology or PLOS Sustainability and Transformation.

As an author, you must:
Log in with your umu.se e-mail in PLOS Editorial Manager
Under the heading "Institution Related Information", enter Umeå University and select Umeå University from the drop-down menu that appears. It is important to use the menu to be identified correctly. Preferably select "Umeå University" and not department or faculty.
In the step "Additional information", under the heading "Publication fees", select "My institution will fully or partially pay the fee...". Select Umeå University from the drop-down menu under the heading "Institutional Account Program".
