15 new dental programme seats to Umeå University

NEWS Universities in Umeå and Gothenburg, and the Karolinska Instiute will receive funding in the recent government budget proposition that will accommodate an additional total of 40 new dentistry programme placements, an increase of 17 per cent.

These new placements will be allocated with 15 seats each to Umeå University and the University of Gothenburg, and 10 seats to the Karolinska Institute. In 2013, when the major investment to increase the total of dentists is fully expanded, there will be 200 more full-year dental students than today.

The proposal details were published in a debate article in the Västerbottens Kuriren newspaper on 15 September by Lars Leijonborg, Minister for Higher Education and Research, Göran Hägglund, Minister for Health and Social Affairs.
