This course covers lectures and practical demonstrations in SEM and TEM techniques, suitable for applications in both physical and life sciences.

Application Deadline:
The registration closes on August 27 2021.

The lecture topics to be introduced during the course include general knowledge and sample preparation in electron microscopy. The practical demonstrations will focus on microscope operation and laboratory equipment specializing in specimen preparation for both SEM and TEM. As example, the practical session for life sciences includes preparation of EM grids, negative staining of proteins, plastic embedding of tissues/cells and thin sections preparation by ultramicrotomy.

This course is open to all students and academic staff. Acceptance to the course will be on the basis of participants’ projects and motivation to learn the techniques. However, during the course we will not use specific research project samples. But, after the course, you are very welcome to use the facility and to continue individual research project specific EM method training.
