RCC North’s Role in Research
RCC North is commissioned to strengthen clinical cancer research both nationally and regionally, so that scientific advancements can quickly benefit cancer patients.
The mission also includes developing collaborative structures with academic research and industry, as well as promoting innovations in cancer care, such as new products and processes.
RCC North works to ensure that all cancer patients in the healthcare region have equal opportunities to participate in clinical studies. This includes disseminating information about ongoing studies and raising awareness of the importance of research for the development of cancer care.
National Research Structures
With the help of national quality registries and diagnosis-specific patient overviews on the INCA platform, RCC provides a national infrastructure for collecting and storing clinical data.
A valuable research resource is the ability to combine clinical data with information from biological material stored in biobanks.

RCC North has national responsibility for the quality registries for colorectal cancer, esophageal and gastric cancer, anal cancer, CNS tumors, and the regional cancer registry for the northern region, as well as support registries such as the Swedish Quality Registry for Radiotherapy (SKvaRT) and the National Oncogenetic Quality Registry (NOGA).
