Community entrepreneurship in rural areas: case studies from northern Sweden
PhD project
in Business Administration in affiliation with the Arctic Graduate School
Given unequal distribution of capital flows, many rural communities in northern Sweden are affected by decline in service infrastructure. Collective entrepreneurial initiatives driven by local community members often emerge as a response to such decline, also known as community entrepreneurship. How and under which conditions rural communities organize themselves in this context is currently underexplored. The research purpose is to investigate the empirical phenomenon of community entrepreneurship in rural areas and to disentangle its mechanisms in the context of northern Sweden.
