Correctional Officers’ Health, Well-Being, and Work Ability
Research project
The overall aim of the project is to generate knowledge about the factors that support a sustainable working life for correctional staff.
Correctional officers perform an important role in society and work in an environment characterized by high physical and psychological demands. Their work may involve managing threatening situations, conflicts, and ethically challenging decisions. Over time, these complex demands may have negative consequences for their health and well-being. For the prison and probation service to remain sustainable in the long term, employees need to be able to maintain their work ability, meet the demands of the job, stay well, and remain in the profession.
