The patient’s perspective on concurrent jaw and neck pain - development, management and intersectionality
Research project
Concurrent jaw and neck pain affects a large part of the population and has physical and social effects. However, how it arises and develops are still unknown. The patient’s perspective is an integral part in delivering evidence-based medicine and of importance in the field of jaw and neck pain where patients often go undetected and undertreated. Thus, this project addresses patients’ perceptions of development and management of jaw and neck pain in relation to intersectionality.
The purpose of this project is to improve knowledge on patients’ perspective on how concurrent jaw- and neck pain develops and how patients experience management within the healthcare system. Using a qualitative approach allows the patient’s own voices to share insight into what research and clinic should focus on. The results of this project are expected to shed light on the patients’ perspectives on a condition where we currently have insufficient knowledge.
