My PhD work in Marta Bally lab focuses on the glycocalyx penetration of viruses infecting the endothelium, mainly those of Hantaviridae family. The project is part of the exciting GLYCOCALYX MSCA doctoral network where we aim to resolve the dynamic organisation of glycocalyces and understand how they perform the many selective barrier functions essential to multicellular life.
Before joining Marta’s group in September 2026, I got a BSc in Biological Sciences from Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan, and MSc in Microbiology from Université Grenoble Alpes, France.
I first worked as an undergraduate assistant in Barteneva lab employing imaging flow cytometry on cyanobacteria. Afterwards, I joined Sarbassov lab to image mitochondrial fusion/fission in cancer cells treated with a novel antitumor drug combination.
For my Master’s, I was part of the MICA group led by Dr. Irina Gutsche at IBS where I employed dSTORM and was taught cryo-EM dataset processing on under-characterized bacterial and viral proteins.
