Cirdan (Dany) Waller is a PhD student in Computational Space Physics at Umeå University, working with Dr. Shahab Fatemi. Their research interest lies in magnetic fields across the solar system, they currently study Mercury's magnetospheric dynamics and lunar crustal magnetic anomalies with a focus on simulating, measuring, and visualizing these fields.
A core theme of their work is data fusion: coupling spacecraft observations with geophysical models so that each informs the other. Their previous research has used spacecraft data to constrain equivalent source models and to investigate how space weathering is expressed in lunar regolith, considering both instrument capabilities and geological context. They are also an advocate for open-source software and creative scientific communication through visualizations and poetry.
