I hold a Ph.D. in Community Ecology from the University of Montpellier, in France. My doctoral research focused on characterizing the mosquito virome and understanding how biotic and abiotic factors, such as mosquito species, sex, level of anthropization, and seasonality, shape viral diversity and structure in mosquitoes.
As a postdoctoral researcher in the Olivia Wesula Lwande Lab, we investigate how laboratory rearing conditions and blood meal sources influence the virome of vector mosquitoes, and how these changes affect vector competence for arboviruses, such as dengue and chikungunya viruses. Overall, our work aims to better understand how laboratory maintenance can bias vector competence studies, with important implications for arbovirus research and disease risk assessment.
