Visual Coordinator

As the coordinator for visual communication, I work to visually convey the identity of Umeå Institute of Design in various media and contexts. Every interface a person encounters, from social media, print and web to the physical environment and interpersonal encounters, contributes to the experience of the whole. Therefore, together with Umeå Institute of Design's Communications Officer, I nurture and develop the institute's visual, graphic and experience-based communication in order to create a cohesive and interesting image of what Umeå Institute of Design is.

Background

I am a trained industrial designer and have worked as a design consultant for 13 years. Already in the early 2000s, I started working with service design together with both public activities and within the private business world. For me, service design is about taking a holistic approach, exploring needs and conditions, mapping flows, setting the framework and then putting insights into practice that lead to a service and/or experience that better meets the different needs of individuals. A service, like communication, is relational, something that is co-created in the moment, and the outcome can therefore never be completely controlled by the sender. You can only create the best possible conditions to convey a specific experience.
