Writing for academic and research purposes in a second language, the teaching and learning of English in schools, uses of picture books for language learning
My primary areas of work are teaching English didactics in the three teacher education programs in Umeå. Classroom instructional methods, vocabulary learning, using authentic texts for children's language development, and theories of language learning are my main emphases.
I also work with writing of research and academic texts for those writing in English as an additional language. This work includes research and scholarly writing across all the faculties. I have a bachelor of arts in Rhetoric from the University of Oregon (1985), a master's degree in Environmental Studies from University of Montana (1990), a graduate teaching certificate in TESOL from University of Montana (1990), and a doctorate from Umeå University in Language Didactics (2016).
