I am an ecosystem ecologist with strong reserach interests in the roles of plants and microbes in biogeochemical cycling. I study how aboveground belowground plant-microbial interactions shape biogeochemstry and how these interaction, in turn, feedback to future environmental changes. For projects related to belowground processes, I have been investigating resource limitation for soil decomposer microbes, and how it changes under different climate change scenarios, such as Arctic warming, Arctic greening, elevated CO2. For projects related to aboveground processes, I study moss-cyanobacteria associated nitrogen fixation. My current projects focus on:
- The symbiotic relationship between moss and cyanobacteria.
- Moss-cyanobacterial associated nitrogen fixation along ecosystem succession.
- Community assembly (moss-cyanobacteria associations, interactions between non-vascular and vascular plants) during eosystem succession.
