Accomodation

We strongly advise you to try to find your accommodation as early as possible.

Unlike universities in many other countries, Swedish universities are not responsible for student accommodations. Universities do not own or administer any housing facilities.

In order to proceed with accommodation arrangements, it is important to understand what type of housing is right for you.

General information from Umeå university

Exchange students, tuition-paying students and scholarship students from outside the EU/EEA

Umeå University can assist tuition-paying students, scholarship students and exchange students from partner universities with accommodation through the International Housing Office (IHO).

Information can be found in the International Student Guide.

Students from EU/EEA and Switzerland

Unlike universities in many other countries, Swedish universities are not responsible for student accommodations. All international students that are citizens of the EU/EEA/Switzerland have the responsibility of finding accommodation on their own.
Since it can be hard to get a student room/apartment we urge you to apply for accommodation right away.

Read about accommodation in the International Student Guide.
