Information for students, faculty and staff regarding COVID-19. (Updated: 17 September 2020)
At present, the only education at UID in which internships are a formal part of the program curriculum, is the Bachelor's programme in industrial design. The spring term of year 2 includes a 10 week internship course. The programme director informs the BFA students about the specific guidelines and rules for that course. General Umeå University rules for internships are found here.
Many UID students go away on internships between year 1 and 2 of their master education. This requires applying formally for a leave from studies, since internships are not part on the UID curriculum on advanced level but only on bachelor level. A study leave might affect eventual scholarship, tuition fee payment and also your visa or study permit. If you are planning to go away for internship(s) that require pausing your studies, please talk to your programme director about this as soon as possible, and inform yourself about the rules that apply for your eventual scholarship, visa etc.
If you are admitted to one of UID's programmes and would like to make a leave from studies (for internships or other reasons) you need to apply for Approved leave from studies.
