Fire safety

Everyone at the university is responsible for their own safety. Everybody should also know where emergency exits are located.

The fire alarm goes off - what should I do?

You can find evacuation plans on every floor, in every building throughout the University. The evacuation plan shows where emergency exits and assembly areas are located. If the evacuation alarm goes off it's important that you know what to do.

If you discover a fire

  • Help people in danger to a safe place.
  • Alert people in the area.
  • Activate the evacuation alarm by pushing the evacuation alarm button.
  • Call 112 if you know anything or have information about the fire.
  • Assess if it's possible to extinguish the fire, without putting yourself in danger, by using the fire equipment found in the hallways.
  • Vacate the premises and move to the assembly area for the building and wait there for clearance to enter the building.

Do not walk through smoke. There are always two emergency exits, so if one is smoke-filled you shall use the other.

If the evacuation alarm goes off, and no fire is discovered

  • Evacuate the premises.
  • Close windows and doors if you are in a study room.
  • Move to the assembly area for the building and wait for clearance to enter the building.
