IAR Intra Oral Scanning Kit
IAR SCANNER
The need for dental care is great among the elderly and especially among those with disabilities. Home dental care means that dental care is performed in the patient’s home which can be a special or ordinary living situation. Mobile dental care is a more comprehensive concept and includes all dental care that is conducted outside the clinic.
Mobile dental care can be performed with everything from simple equipment consisting of single instruments to advanced mobile equipment similar to clinic dentistry equipment. Mobile dental care, as a care model, is a complement to the stationary dental clinic.
Mobile Dental Care’s mission is to provide caring, quality dental care to elderly and home-bound patients to preserve quality of life. During this project the focus was on the type of mobile dental care when the dentist visits the patient's home, where they help them. Otherwise, the patients have to travel a long distance to reach a dentist.
The project aim is to find a new way to diagnose oral dental issues as there are no portable tools for this unique profession today, and most diagnostics tools in the market are not up-to-date with technology. The project took a great turn after finding existing technology that is used to 3d-print crowns. After researching why 3d-printed crowns have been broken, the research found that the scanning technology called canary system is so precise that it can even scan early dental issues which cannot be seen in dental X-rays. I have carried this technology to combine it with my final results.
The project result is IAR, a diagnostics kit that can be easily carried and used by any hygienist during their dental visit to the patients. IAR will reduce the diagnosing time into only 3 minutes for each patient. Not only that, but also include an educational feedback for the patients to learn about their oral issues and how to prevent them in the future.
