Manuela - Manual Emergency Electricity

Degree Project 2021

If a longer power outage strikes, everyday life is put on hold. Basic needs such as water, food and heat suddenly become the highest priority and new habits need to be established. We should all be prepared for this type of event. Among other things, it can be to have a radio, to be able to receive news during a power outage.

This work shows that there are a number of products on the market that offer the opportunity to listen to radio, despite power outages, through manual operation.

However, several of these products have poor ergonomics.

The project summarizes a number of requirements for a product with better ergonomics and makes through concept development, evaluations, refinement and design a proposal for a product that would address the need for energy supply in the event of a longer power outage, to be able to use radios, flashlights and other smaller devices.
