Injury Transport in Ski Slopes

Degree Project 2021

This project is about the work environment for the skipatrol in swedish skislopes. With an increasing interest for outdoor sports such as skiing downhill, there is also an increasing number of accidents in the skislopes. The research for this project, based on interviews with five skipatrollers, shows that there is a lot to do about the skipatrols ergonomic situation.

One of the main problems are the transportation of injured people in steep terrain. Todays equipment is dangerous to use in these conditions because of the risk of loosing control, and therefor the skipatrol has to carrie the burden of the injured people on themselves. This leads to a huge strain on their bodies. This concepts main goal is to electrically assist the skipatrol while transporting injured people in the skislope. The result is presented in a CAD model and sketches.
