Electrolux Core

Degree Project 2022

Electrolux Core is a system for communication between apartments and collective machines, creating opportunities for sharing greater than independent ownership. The Electrolux Core builds on the economy of scale and the efficiency of sharing. With machines built from existing Electrolux professional platforms, users can experience faster, more qualitative results that use less water, energy, and chemicals. The use of the machines is reached by putting the designated box in the cabinets found in each independent apartment. The cabinet works as a waiting area for the elevator where items can be loaded on or off without users being present.

After the user’s interaction with the cabinet, the action is fully automated until it comes back finished. Meaning the system can work 24/7 reaching an even greater use per machine. For example, for a building with 100 apartments, only 3 robot vacuums, 1 professional-grade dishwasher, and 10 laundry machines are needed. Additionally, Users can share portable items by either asking a neighbor in the app or getting it from the association’s collection, getting groceries delivered in either delivery pods or tempered pods, or sending recycling to be collected in the basement. Built to be expandable and to fit future needs and innovations.

This creates a product that Electrolux can sell as a service to housing associations and repeatedly take care of in the form of repairs and optimization. In addition, the containers placed in the apartments are designed to live long and eventually be easily recycled, made of mono-material and loose NFC trackers. Hopefully, the sharing system is our next step to a smaller footprint while delivering even greater user experiences.
