Gecko Snickers Workwear

Design Project 2 (BFA2) 2024

This collaborative project with Snickers Workwear, a brand developing technical and innovative workwear, resulted in envisioning the future of work pants made for the professional craftsmen of 2070. Utilizing backtracking, the team traced the craftsmanship through various historical epochs. The outcome was a speculative design approach with a forward-looking projection of future needs and technologies for craftsmen.

Through sketching, model making, and virtual reality simulations, the team crafted a design concept. The envisioned work pants prioritizing comfort, adaptability, and sustainability. The proposed pants incorporate new technologies, including soft robotics for toolcarrying, a swipe function for size adjustment to accommodate diverse body types, and e-ink technology allowing for personalized color customization. Furthermore, a ventilation system utilizing form-changing fibers responding to temperature, ensuring optimal comfort throughout the workday.

By embracing innovative design principles and emerging technologies, the envisioned pants for 2070 represent needs of professional craftsmen while advancing sustainability and functionality in industrial workwear.
