TemperTrace

Design Project 2 (BFA2) 2026

This project was carried out in collaboration with Nordic Chocolate with the aim of developing a more accessible and cost-effective solution for evaluating chocolate tempering. Through research, user studies, concept development and evaluation, a need was identified for a tool that provides clear feedback on tempering quality for both small-scale producers and home users. The final outcome was TemperTrace, a chocolate temper meter consisting of a cooled aluminium block, a reusable stainless-steel cup, a lid with an integrated temperature probe and a mobile application for visualizing temperature data. The product was developed with a focus on usability, repeatability and clear feedback. The project demonstrates how professional chocolate quality control can be made more accessible through a combination of physical product design and digital user experience.
