Bringing the classroom home focuses on the transition of switching from on-campus to remote education at home and the basic interactions and experiences that tend to get lost in these online scenario.

In order to enjoy remote education to the fullest, (whether you are a student or teacher) there is a need for change. A lot of the current issues when transitioning from onsite to an online environment are quite obviously software related. Some of these can easily be fixed with software updates alone while others need specific hardware and/or sensors solutions before they can be functioning to their full potential.

Currently a lot of the solutions used in (remote) education are software solutions developed for enterprise environments and their ways of working, mostly focusing on ways to improve either Face-2-Face communication or productivity.
These solutions are not made for educational needs specifically and yet we use them, because there is nothing else out there.

Cisco Classmate is a product solution that can be used in combination with the Webex software and works together with hardware these students and/or teachers already are using at home (tablets, smartphones, tv's).

Specialized "Webex University" software developed for educational use will work hand in hand with these hardware solutions to create an improved user experience and combined they offer flexibility to the users to participate in their online courses the way that works best for them in their personal situation.

The Classmate Connect products allow the user to transform a TV or Display into an extended online learning environment. Combining the Connect Hub with the Connect Camera allows for remote control with the WebEx University software and transforms every living room into an interactive learning experience.

Outside of the live lectures this solution can be used in remote collaboration with classmates or even in private scenarios like having a remote dinner together with your grandparents live from your living room.
