Prizma – an immersive and easier way to document crime scene investigations
Prizma
New legislation allows for more and more environmental crimes to be investigated, but current tools and methods fall short to satisfy the demand. The current process of crime scene documentation is hugely ineffective and outdated, with the police resorting to pen and paper and hours spent in front of the computer writing a report. Prizma is reimagining how crime scenes can be documented digitally and unlocking new investigative possibilities by integrating Augmented Reality into a product already being used by the police: The gas mask, ensuring the safety of investigations, especially at environmental crime scenes with initially unknown substances. At the heart of Prizma lie smart glasses that allow investigators to intuitively document the crime scenes in an non invasive way. The smart glasses are worn inside the mask and equipped with an array of five cameras enabling Prizma to perform a 3D-scan of the environment. This allows the police to later have a 3D-view of the crime scene, complete with all information, such as locations of test samples being taken, spatially documented.
