The L.210 Ultrasound Scan Bar

Methodology in Product Design (APD1) 2025

The L.210 Ultrasound Scan Bar is a high performance professional tool for rapidly investigating liquid contents of steel drum barrels with a volume of 210 litres (DIN EN ISO 15750-(1/2)). It enables crime scene investigators to quickly determine how much material a barrel contains and what kind of medium it is. The device uses the speed of sound which varies in every medium. By sending ultrasound inside the barrel, the device can detect the reflected waves from the opposite steel wall of the barrel and therefore determine the medium inside. It makes the work for the investigators not only faster by reducing the steps, but also makes it more safe, as less barrels have to be opened physically.
