Urban Ivy

Strategic Design (TD1) 2024

Urban Ivy is a strategic design project focused on initiating an environmentally positive urban transportation system by creating a joint venture company between Changan Motors and Carbo Culture. Changan is a leading Chinese automotive company and Carbon Culture is an American-Finnish carbon sequestration startup. Together they created a mobility system that joins Ivy Leaf's mobility with Ivy Tree, a carbon capture and charging station. In the Ivy tree, organic waste from the local municipality can be processed into biochar and energy. This biochar can be used as a fertilizer in local urban farms and energy can be turned into electricity and used in Ivy Leaf transportation. The Ivy system can be used in two ways. First, as a daily mobility solution for our city inhabitant Laura, and the second as a transporting unit for Michael, the local urban farmer.
