Umeå University Community Guidelines for social media
These are the overall Community Guidelines for how to comment and post on social media accounts managed by Umeå University. These guidelines apply to messages sent to the University’s accounts and to comments and answers to its account content.
The University does not allow any of the following on Umeå University social media channels:
abusive, sensitive or evidently inappropriate personal data;
content that could violate the law such as unlawful threat, defamation or agitation against an ethnic or national group, or content that could be bound by confidentiality;
threatening, abusive or hateful content;
spam or other messages repeating the same content;
posts advertising other parties;
false or misleading information;
irrelevant or non-purposeful material.
In the event of repeated violations of the community rules, Umeå University may close the comments section entirely, for example on a specific post.
Please note that comments, reactions and other interactions with the university's content on social media become public records and may be archived in accordance with the university's procedures.
Umeå University is not responsible for content owned by the user itself, for instance replies on X (previously Twitter), or the user’s own posts mentioning Umeå University, a part of the University or a staff member. However, Umeå University should take relevant action, such as to report legal violations against its staff members or organisations to the police, and to report evidently inappropriate content to the social platform in question.
