AI and Academic Writing

On this page you can find information about AI and academic writing, including the aims and ongoing work within this area.

Would you like to contribute?

We are now looking for interested teachers from across the university who would like to contribute experiences, perspectives, or development ideas within this area of work. By participating, you become part of the university’s collective development efforts and help shape sustainable, well considered, and pedagogically grounded approaches in relation to AI.

Academic Writing in the Age of Generative AI

Generative AI is reshaping academic writing in higher education. AI tools such as language models can strengthen students’ writing by supporting idea development, improving text structure, and providing linguistic guidance. At the same time, important challenges emerge related to metacognition, overreliance on language models, and questions of academic integrity. Whether the focus is on making use of the opportunities or critically addressing the challenges, thoughtful and partly new pedagogical approaches are needed.

Within this area of work, we explore ways to meaningfully integrate generative AI into students’ writing so that human and artificial competencies can interact in productive ways. The goal is to support student learning and strengthen their academic independence.

Contact

If you are a university teacher interested in exploring these questions in the coming years, you are welcome to get in touch. The work will take shape collaboratively through open networks and thematic working groups, collegial discussions, practical and exploratory activities, and critical reflection.
