50th anniversary of the Demographic Database

We celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of Umeå University's first major research infrastructures, the Demographic Data Base (DDB).

When DDB started its operations in 1973, it entered a completely new and uncharted field: using the information-rich Swedish church records to build population databases for research. It was a pioneering effort that has had great significance, both nationally and internationally. Now we want to celebrate the first 50 years of DDB with a jubilee!

This website brings together information and activities related to the anniversary.
