Welcome to Child- and Adolescent Psychiatry at Umeå University

Research within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) is primarily focused on emotional dysregulation and depression in adolescents and ADHD in children and youth. It includes studies with interventional design, psychometric and biomarker research as well as studies on the effect of psycho-pharmaceutical treatment in CAP.

Research is also conducted outside of the CAP-clinic, in collaboration with other disciplines within Umeå University, such as epidemiology, clinical pharmacology and pediatrics, for example assessment of school-based universal prevention of mental health problems in middle and high school youth. We also have national and international collaboration Karolinska Institutet, several universities in Europe, University of San Francisco (UCSF) and Mayo Clinic.

The research group leader is Eva Henje, MD, PhD and associate professor and specialist in CAP.

Research group meetings and journal-clubs are scheduled regularly. The group actively aims for a creative and transparent internal collaboration, fair distribution between efforts and resources and internal monitoring of responsibilities. High priority is to actively support the integrity, autonomy, life-balance and well-being of each member and apply the same core-principals in external collaboration.
