Do you dream of creating games? Now's your chance. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, we invite you (aged 16 and over) to an intense and creative 48-hour Game Jam at A Working Lab in the Aurora building, Umeå University. Rapid prototyping is the heart of any game jam. Feel free to bring AI tools into the mix to support your brainstorming and development!

Short about Game Jam

Working together in small groups, you'll unleash your imagination and design brand-new games. You can create digital games, board games or card games - it's entirely up to you. This is a space to test ideas, learn new skills and meet fellow game enthusiasts. The event is hosted by game profile Harry Heath, creator of the cozy cooking game Pawsta and Community Manager of The Jörniverse, a creative retreat for game developers.

Who knows - maybe you'll create the next big game hit!

📅 When: 6–8 November 2026
📍 Where: A Working Lab, Aurora Umeå University

What is a Game Jam?
A Game Jam is an event where participants create new games (digital, board, card etc.) from scratch in a limited time frame. The goal is to meet other game enthusiasts, try things out, and have fun. The jam runs from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. The time limit often leads to fun, unexpected and innovative games that never would exist otherwise! Then your team can decide if you want to continue working on the project, or not.

Who can join?
Everyone over 16 years old. Whether you're a coding pro, a creative student, or just someone with awesome ideas, we want you. All skill levels are welcome and previous experience in creating games is NOT necessary. We believe that you have an interest in games, game design, storytelling, programming, art, project management or sound design - high school student, university student, indie developer, game enthusiast, programmer, musician or graphic designer; aspiring or experienced.
