Education at the Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics
Mathematics is fundamental to all the natural sciences and many of the social sciences, as well as to a large part of our modern society. New applications are constantly being developed that make use of fundamental mathematics. Therefore, education in fundamental mathematics and mathematical statistics is of great importance for students in many fields.
The department houses about 80 employees and conduct teaching in both fundamental mathematics, such as calculus, discrete mathematics, computational mathematics, and mathematical statistics, such as probability theory and data analysis.
The department offers a wide range of courses on basic level, advanced level, as well as PhD level.
