Design Process 3 7.5 credits

About the course

In this course, the student will use learned skills, experience and knowledge, to partly independently initiate and communicate their skills and competence, while reflecting over their own level of competence in relation to a future profession and working life as an industrial designer. The student will identify contemporary design problems, based on the needs and visions of an identified partner or target group, and write a project description, which can be used in the course "final exam project". In the sketching part of the course, the students will deepen their sketching skills and knowledge of working with sketching as a creative process, presenting a final sketch proposal. The course aim is also that the student will develop and present their knowledge and competence through individual portfolios in a simulated interview. - Project planning, 3 credits - Sketching, 1.5 credits - Design communication 3, 3 credits

1. Project planning, 3 credits In this course, the student should independently identify a contemporary design problem and write a project description including a background, description of the target group and method, competitive overview, time and work planning, and a budget. The design problem should be formulated based on the needs and visions of an identified partner organization or authority.

2. Sketching, 1,5 credits The students should deepen their skills to work with different materials and techniques to produce sketches, for example by means of visualization software. The students will, for example, deepen their skills to express themselves with a personal visual language and individual attitude.

3. Design communication 3, 3 credits The students will further develop their individual portfolio and transfer it to different relevant media such as the Web. The work includes reflection on design and professional skills in a contemporary perspective.
