Gender, nation and migration 7.5 credits
About the course
The following course will explore a selection of theoretical works and case studies on the many ways in which the discourses and practices of nations and migrations are gendered. In line with a long tradition within gender studies the course will concentrate on geopolitical and national(ist) discourses on:
1) borders, migration, and citizenship
2) gender, sexuality, and subjectivity
Within the framework of this course a special focus will be given to feminist perspectives on borders as well as the intersections of nation, race, and reproduction.
These themes will be explored through texts, lectures, seminars, group work, and individual written assignments.
