History and Theory of Architecture 1:2 6 credits

About the course

The course covers the period from World War II until the present day. The student will explore the evolution of Modernism globally and the emergence of Postmodernism in architecture and urban planning, as well as counter-movements focused on the ethical relationship between humanity and the natural environment. The student continues to develop an understanding of the history and theory of architecture in terms of the human scale, form, function, and space. Through reading, writing and other methods such as case studies of building typologies, re-evaluation, analysis and argumentation the relation between history, theory and practice are explored.
