About the course

The course addresses linguistic perspectives on the Eurovision Song Contest. Using the Eurovision Song Contest as a starting point, the course provides an introduction to European language policy, discourse analysis, multilingualism and metaphors.

The course consists of five modules:

  1. introduction to the Eurovision Song Contest from a linguistic perspective (1.5 credits)
  2. discursive perspectives on gender, political identity, and nationality (1.5 credits)
  3. multilingualism (1,5hp)
  4. metaphors (1.5 credits)
  5. individual specialisation (1,5hp)
