About the course

The course is given for exchange students within the dentistry programme, during the 8th semester. 

Contents
Case-seminars in which the general dentists’ role in periodontal care is elucidated. Collaboration with dental hygienists is discussed and if and when in the treatment course the patient should be referred to a specialist in periodontology.
Theoretical course in periodontal surgery:

  • risk assessment and prophylaxis using antibiotics prior to periodontal surgery
  • different surgical techniques for treating periodontitis
  • regenerative treatment of periodontal tissues
  • techniques for plastic surgery of periodontal tissues 

Course in periodontal surgery in practice:

  • periodontal surgery on patients.
