Sustainable Technologies 7.5 credits
About the course
The course covers various energy technologies within renewable energy conversion. It approaches the topic from a materials perspective, aiming to provide an understanding of applications such as energy conversion in fuel cells and batteries, hydrogen production through electrolysis, artificial photosynthesis, and the conversion of solar energy into heat or electrical energy in solar collectors and solar cells. The course also offers an overview of other renewable energy systems, such as wind power, biomass, and hydropower, and how these can interact within a systems perspective in a sustainable society. The course includes lab work and practical sessions related to hydrogen production in PEM electrolysis, the conversion of hydrogen and oxygen to electrical energy in fuel cells, as well as the production and evaluation of organic solar cells.
