This programme is intended for people who are interested in working with strategic marketing and specializing in consumer behavior and market analysis. After completing the education, you will be able to work with marketing activities are the strategic level. Sustainability and internationalization are an integral part of the educational environment. The programme is offered by Umeå School of Business and Economics.

While studying

During the first year the main focus is on developing the knowledge in marketing through modules in marketing strategy and strategic planning, consumer behavior and market analysis. You will practically apply the knowledge developed during your studies. For example you will take part in developing a marketing plan for a company or an organization. During the first year you will have the opportunity to choose elective courses and internship.

During the second year you are given the opportunity to deepen your knowledge in one other area in the field of business administration. This year also includes a research method module and a module in current trends in business administration research. You will develop your writing, analysis and research skills through writing a master's thesis. During this year it is also possible to study abroad one semester.

Internship

You have the opportunity to do an internship in a company for ten weeks. This possibility exists only at a few business schools in the country. You will arrange your internship yourself in a company you find interesting. The internship gives you a good opportunity to put theoretical knowledge into practice and gain valuable experience and new contacts.

Corporate Connections

The business school collaborates in many different ways with companies and organizations. For example internships, guest lectures, company visits, guest lectures, essay assignments and cases from companies.

Current trends and a minor in Accounting/Finance/Management/Business Development 30 cr.

Semester 4
Alternative A. Master's thesis in Business Administration III 30 cr. Alternativ B. Elective course 15 cr. and Master's thesis in Business Administration II 15 cr.

Career opportunities

After completing the education, you can work as a marketing manager at large international companies and services organizations. You can work as a marketer, marketing executive, sales manager, project manager, business developer or researcher.

The programme's international character also provides good opportunities for a career abroad. The programme gives you eligibility to apply for PhD positions.

A Bachelor's degree (equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, 180 credits) from an internationally recognised university with a major in Business Administration. Special requirements: 75 credits in Business Administration at Basic level (A-level) and Intermediate level (B-level) a minimum of 60 credits in Management, Marketing Accounting and Finance or the equivalent including at least 7,5 credits in Marketing. At the Bachelor level (C-level) a minimum of 15 credits in Business Administration. Statistics or similar 7,5 credits. Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper secondary course English B/6. Find information about how this requirement can be fulfilled at Umeå Universities website under the headline “Entry requirements” If you are still working towards your undergraduate degree, you need to include with your application a document from your current University, outlining when you are expected to graduate as well as a course outline for the last semester.

The selection criteria are GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test-must be sent directly from ETS, our institution code is 81Q-GG-68) and academic credits. Applicants who have provided a GMAT result will be selected first in the order of their results and the remaining applicants will be ranked according to academic credits.
