One may distinguish between acceptance as assent and acceptance as a belief-like mental attitude. The distinction between belief and acceptance has been initially introduced in Philosophy of Mind to address cases where an agent’s actions contradict his beliefs. More recently, acceptance has been used to model cultural knowledge, group beliefs, common ground, or language as a tool.
In this talk, I describe a conversational agent framework based on a refashioning of the distinction between belief and acceptance.
