Time Wednesday 9 December until Thursday 10 December, 2020 at 09:00 - 11:00
Place Zoom

Due to Covid19, the Workshop “Comparative Indigenous Studies: China and Nordic Europe” that was planned during December 10 - 11, 2020 associated with CNARC has been delayed till 2021. The exact date has not decided yet.

Sorry about this late notice.

The intention of this workshop is to shed light on comparative Indigenous studies, particularly between China and Northern Europe. For millennia, Indigenous communities have inhabited the Arctic, they hold invaluable expertise on issues related to climate and survival in the north. There are interesting similarities as well as differences between Northern Chinese minorities (e.g. the Chinese Tungus: Daur, Ewenk, Manchu, Nanai, and Oroqen) and Arctic peoples, including Sámi, with regards to environmental, ecological, historical, social, economic, and cosmological contexts. This workshop seeks to highlight Indigenous research in China and Northern Europe.
